Lumimari is an Estonian illustrator and designer with over ten years of experience creating images for books. Her work spans children’s literature and books for adults, and sometimes exists somewhere in between. She has studied photography, visual communication, and interaction design.

Alongside illustration and layout design, she has also worked on a number of animation projects. For her, illustration is a quiet but powerful way of approaching challenging topics and communicating meanings that are easier to show than to say.

What continues to drive her practice is a long-standing curiosity about visual communication itself. She is fascinated by the hidden meanings images carry and how much of what they convey reaches us almost unconsciously. In an increasingly image-driven world, pictures shape how we see and understand reality more than we often realize.
