Johanna Ruukholm

b. 1996

Estonia

Johanna Ruukholm is an artist, illustrator, and graphic designer whose practice encompasses drawing, installation, and ceramics. Her work engages with ritual, animism, and posthumanist ideas, creating speculative environments where identity becomes fluid and hierarchical distinctions begin to dissolve. Through hybrid characters and symbolic spaces, she explores states of becoming, liminality, and the porous boundaries between the human and the more-than-human.

At the core of her practice is hope as a critical stance—an openness to alternative futures and collective imagination that moves beyond growth-driven paradigms.
