Elīna Brasliņa

b. 1988
Latvia
Through illustration, animation, and design, Brasliņa shapes stories with a keen eye for character, rhythm, and surface. She is best known for her book illustration, with nearly thirty titles to her name, many of them children’s books by Latvian authors. Her international reach began with Kate Wakeling’s Moon Juice, and books featuring her work have since been published in sixty countries and translated into forty languages.Alongside publishing, Brasliņa works as a production designer at Atom Art, including on Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs and Born in the Jungle. Her practice also extends to book covers, posters, feminist art, and portraits for the parenting-focused project My first year too. Even when working digitally, she often builds images from scanned textures, giving her illustrations a tactile, hand-drawn warmth.
