Elīna Brasliņa is a Latvian illustrator who discovered her interest in book illustration during her studies at the Art Academy of Latvia. She has worked on nearly thirty titles, primarily children’s books by Latvian authors.
Her international debut came with Moon Juice by Kate Wakeling, and her work has since been published in over sixty countries and translated into more than forty languages. She also works as a production designer at the animation studio Atom Art, contributing to films such as Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs (2019) and Born in the Jungle (2026). She also does book covers, posters, makes feminist art in her spare time, and draws portraits of mothers and children for @my_first_year_too – an Instagram account dedicated to stories about parenting.
Brasliņa’s practice is defined by experimentation with styles and techniques. Even in digital work, she frequently incorporates scanned textures to create a hand-drawn quality. She continues to challenge herself with each project and is currently working on a graphic novel for children.
