Pamela Samel

b. 1985
Estonia
Samel’s illustration practice is shaped by a background in textile design and a close attention to small, easily overlooked things.
She has illustrated eight children’s picturebooks and taken part in numerous illustration exhibitions internationally. Her work imagines modest objects and quiet feelings as alive, giving them voice through drawing. Even after several years as an active illustrator, Samel approaches each new project with the uncertainty of beginning again. She shares her playful illustrations with ease, trusting that others may find something of their own feelings and thoughts within them.
