Edmunds Jansons

b. 1972

Latvia

As a filmmaker and illustrator, Jansons has built a distinctive body of work around animation, children’s storytelling, and the quiet humour of everyday imagination. Founder of the animation studio Atom Art, he has developed projects ranging from animated documentary and short films to preschool series, feature animation, and illustrated books.

His filmography includes Little Bird’s Diary, Choir Tour, The Isle of Seals, Guard of Honour, Freeride in C, Shammies, and Pigtail and Mr. Sleeplessness. His first feature film, Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs, expanded his playful visual world into long-form animation, followed by Born in the Jungle. Alongside his work in film, Jansons is also a recognised children’s book illustrator, bringing warmth, rhythm, and gentle wit to the page.
