An old and proud eagle is starving in a stormy, desolate mountain landscape. Lured by a mirage, it discovers carrion. The eagle is tempted to feed itself, but refuses to go against its nature: never to eat carrion. It is a desperate and hopeless situation, and the spirit of doom manages to seduce the weakened eagle. As soon as the eagle gives in to temptation, a bullet is fired. The eagle dies, but remains true to itself.
